i love this song

The Night Begins

It was a Friday night in late September 2024 and, at first, nothing about it seemed out of the ordinary.

Two Separate Plans

Audrey was in Georgetown, tucked into dinner with her girlfriends Grace and Andrea, savoring great food, even better cocktails, and the kind of laughter that makes you lose track of time. Across the river, Ken was in Old Town Alexandria with his partner-in-crime Nick, posted up at their usual dive karaoke bar, beers in hand and ready for a classic Friday night.

A Change of Plans

As the evening wound down, Audrey was ready to call it a night—but Grace and Andrea had other plans. Determined to revisit their old stomping grounds, they convinced (read: lovingly dragged) her into an Uber bound for Old Town. Meanwhile, Ken and Nick found themselves in an unusual predicament: their go-to karaoke spot was unexpectedly empty. On a Friday? Unheard of. So, they pivoted—landing at Light Horse instead.

And just like that, two completely separate nights quietly shifted onto the same path.

The First Glance

When Audrey walked into Light Horse, she spotted him almost instantly—tall, handsome, man bun and all, mid-laugh at the bar. She grabbed a drink nearby, worked up the courage to maybe say something… and then promptly didn’t. Instead, she retreated to the dance floor with Grace and Andrea, where the house band was playing all the best ‘90s hits.

But Ken had already noticed her.

“I Love This Song”

He made a simple plan: walk up, smile, and say, “I love this song,”—whatever happened to be playing—just to start the conversation. No overthinking, no second-guessing.

And then, as if the universe had a sense of humor, the next song started: Creep by Radiohead.

Not exactly the smooth, romantic opener he had in mind—but somehow, it made everything even better. He went for it anyway.

The Moment Everything Changed

They laughed, they danced, and somewhere between the irony of the song and the ease of being together, the night took on a life of its own. From that moment on, neither of them looked back.

Exactly Where They Were Meant to Be

Funny how fate works—because neither of them was even supposed to be at Light Horse that night. And yet, it turned out to be exactly where they were meant to be.
